Internet Librarian 2009 first keynote on Monday, Oct 26th is well known computer scientist Vint Cerf, VP & Chief Internet Evangelist, Google, who is focuing on the conference theme — digital publishing, preservation and practices. Vinton (Vint) Cerf, along with Robert Kahn, is co-designer of the TCP/IP Internet network protocol. Here is a picture of the two receiving an award from US President Bill Clinton. There are a number of interesting videos of Cerf on the ‘net including: Wishing IEEE a happy 125th anniversary (2008), on net neutrality (2006), infrastructure for everyone to get access to the ‘net, including mobile and satellite access (2008) and a recent lecture of the University of Maryland where he talked about getting started, how cultures work differently around the world, RFID tags, and more.
