Something Has Been Added

Long-time readers of my blogs on the IL and CIL conferences may have noticed that my signature now includes a reference to my just-published book (2 weeks ago) on personal archiving.  And readers of the IL 2013 program (do people actually read through those things?) may have seen an advertisement for the book and a quotation of the endorsement by Cherilyn Fiory, Director of the Upper Dublin PA Public Library (UDPL).  Here’s the background to that.

Cheri joined UDPL a few years ago, and I soon made her acquaintance and was interested to find out that her father-in-law worked in the Research area of Bell Labs in Murray Hill, NJ during the 1970s and 1980s when I was there doing searches in the Murray Hill Library’s Information Retrieval Service on Dialog and other commercial online searching services, and I probably had done some searches for him.  (This was before the days of the Internet and Google, and most searching was done by trained intermediaries.)  Cheri kindly provided an endorsement for my book, and in return I gave her a copy of it.  Here is a photo of me presenting it to her.

Thank you, Cheri, for your kind endorsement.
